Shakira is AWESOME

Admittedly, I liked her more when all her songs were in Spanish and she wasn't blonde. *rolls eyes* But I still find her interesting enough, and I swear it's got nothing to do with the fact that I'm exactly 3 years her junior. :p

Anyway...

While browsing the netz today (as usual), I stumbled across an article about her opinions on illegal downloads of music. It mentions her among a short list of singers, but it shows just enough of her awesomeness. So, I decided to FAIL translate the article to English, just for the sake of it. :D

Shakira doesn't condemn the illegal downloads of music

Last month (September 9), Lily Allen started a campaign to end this illegal practice, and asked the Britannic government to help fight those who download illegally, arguing they destroy the music industry.

Elton John, Annie Lennox and George Michael have supported her, but Shakira, who has sold millions of discs around the world, isn't against the illegal downloads. She confided to Sky News: "I like what is happening because that way I feel closer to fans and to people who appreciate music. To some extent, it's the democratization of music, and music is a gift. Therefore, music must continue being just that - a gift."

Lily Allen affirms this illegal practice affects new artists who have trouble surviving, but Nelly Furtado, for example, thinks the drop in sales isn't related to success. She explains: "If you love music, you must continue making music no matter what. You will always find an audience, and even if you don't make millions of dollars, you will make enough to live, to have a roof over your head, a family and a car."
